Germany was one of my favorite countries in Europe to visit. It wasn’t necessarily because of beautiful landmarks or buildings like some of the other places, but mostly because the people and experiences we shared there.
Our first stop in Germany was in Schwangau, where the Neuschwanstein Castle(shown below) stands. We explored the Schloss Hohenschwangau first and then hiked up to a bridge where we had an amazing view of the Sleeping Beauty Inpsired castle.
Unfortunately, I don’t have many pictures from Munich but I had an absolute blast there! The only downside was that it was so, SO hot. Sweat was dripping down my face 90% of the day and no one place that we went had A.C, not even the place that we stayed. Aside from the heat, I had such a good time. If you ever make it to Munich, be sure to make to the English Gardens. It’s a huge park with a fast-moving river running right down the middle. If its a sunny day, you’ll see tons of people just laying out, reading, swimming, drinking, playing games, etc. It felt so nice to just lay under the trees and people-watch with our giant pretzels & lemonade beer. We wanted to go back each day because it was just that cool. I also really enjoyed the nightlife and youth culture in Munich. I’d love to go back for an extended period of time one day.
We were only in Berlin for 2 days but I really liked the youth culture there as well. We visited the Berlin Wall(shown below), Reichstag, the Holocaust Memorial(shown below), and a few other sites. It was extremely moving to stand in spaces where some of the darkest events in Germany’s history have taken place.
