I’ve just arrived in Costa Rica and it feels surreal. Suddenly, I’m back to where it all began. This is where I started my solo adventure around the world. I hadn’t quit my job and I had no idea that it was possible to live the life that I do now.
This time around, I’ve been invited to Costa Rica for a wellness treat. After passing the exact same hostel I stayed in just two years ago, I suddenly got emotional. That decision to travel out of the country led me here now.I feel a bit of nostalgia and a TON of gratitude for how much has changed since then.
I remember arriving in this EXACT town at around 10pm after taking the local bus several hours from San José. I was so nervous about being in a foreign country alone with minimal Spanish speaking skills. I wondered what I had gotten myself into. Needless to say, that first solo trip was a success and it was only the beginning.
This leap of faith led to a grand adventure that I am still carrying out today. Solo travel has changed my life, but it blows my mind that MY journey has inspired many of you to go solo. Now, that’s insane! Why? Because this is my truth. This is my life. These are my real stories. I never imagined that simply walking in my truth could inspire others to walk in theirs. Well, now I know. And I wanna say that I am so proud of my 23 year old self. *cue the tears*
Are you able to look back on any growth or major change you’ve experienced within recent years? Have you had a moment where stepped back and thought, “woah, I actually reached that goal or made that happen”. Take a moment to congratulate yourself. You may have along way to go, but it’s so important to acknowledge how far you have come.
